How this download started: I felt feelings, heard a corresponding song, and started crying because I miss South America. Would you like me to continue? You probably get the gist…
Adulting. Partnering. Mothering…. There are so many labels we take on and then find ourselves stuck within them, as if they are an excuse to not have autonomy and fulfill our own desires. We have to get out of our own way. This narrative needs to be flipped.
How can we have it all? I believe we can.
I think we get in our own way pretty consistently. We take on all of the perceived ways we are needed without putting some of our needs first along the way. Where does this really get us at the end of the day and what does it model to our loved ones?
Can you…
...mother and also tend to your own needs and desires?
...partner without losing yourself within the partnership?
...manage a household and still have a hot intimate life?
...ask more from your partner without feeling like you're asking too much?
...show up as your best self at work while not abandoning your authentic self?
...stay grounded in the present day necessary tasks while also daydreaming and planning your next passion filled adventure?
It is challenging AND I believe we can.
We can…
...love our babies well and fulfill our own desires along the way.
...partner and still have autonomy.
...manage a household and keep things hot.
...ask and empower our partners to show up more.
...show up at work as the best version of ourselves by embracing our true selves.
...cross off to-dos AND plan the next adventure to fulfill us.
How do we do this? Great question.
All I can say is I continue to ask myself the questions that bring up what matters most to my heart. Yes, especially the hardest questions need to be faced. It might feel scary at first AND it feels so freeing on the other side. I continue to experiment with what works and doesn’t work in my life. I am thankful I still do this.
Would you be willing to ask yourself the same? After all, our time here is short. I believe you can.
Now I’m off to plan my next trip south of the border.
With no regrets,
